Five suspected kidnappers have been burnt to death, by an angry mob along the Afuze-Uokha Road in Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State.
According to reports, brave vigilance members apprehended some kidnappers after they abducted some travellers and had moved them to their den in the forest.
After rescuing the abducted victims, the vigilance members brought the kidnappers to the road to Uokha community in a bid to hand them over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.
But it was gathered that angry villagers descended on the criminals and burnt them to death, instantly on the streets.
Confirming the incident to newsmen, the spokesman of Edo state police command, Bello Kontongs, said the kidnappers are dead, he, however, said the Command had ordered a thorough investigation into the incident to ascertain the complete details of what transpired
