The Emir of Kajuru in Kaduna state, Alhaji Alhassan Adamu, who was abducted on Sunday, has regained his freedom.
Kaduna State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Jalige, confirmed the development to journalists on Monday, in Kaduna.
He said the second class traditional ruler was released this evening and is now in his palace.
Recall that the abductors of the Emir of Kajuru had demanded a ransom of N200 million to secure his release.
The spokesperson of the Kajuru Emirate Council, Dahiru Abubakar, disclosed this on Monday, before the news of the release.
Following the release, the police PRO said details of how the ruler was freed would be communicated in due course.
However, the Emir speaking after his release broke down in tears while addressing his subjects.
He started saying, “People of Kajuru…” but he could hardly complete his thought before he got emotional.
He covered his face with both hands to contain his emotions in a 21-second clip seen by Neptune Prime.
His children, grandchildren, and some titleholders of the emirate are still being held.
