Story from Saleh INUWA, Kano
As the 14th Fulani Emir of Kano Emirate, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, clocks 60 years today, his friends and associates have planned to organise a prayer session for him to regain his throne in the nearest future as was allegedly predicted by Soothsayers.
Sanusi Lamido Sanusi was born on July 31st 1961 and after his career as a banker, rising to the apex position of Governor of Central Bank, he was controversially removed by ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, when a disagreement broke out between the two.
It would be recalled that former President Jonathan set up a powerful committee to probe Sanusi and had him suspended from office. During that time, the former Emir of Kano, Dr Ado Bayero passed away and former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, against all protocol and advice, appointed Sanusi to the exalted throne as the 14th Emir of the Emirate.
But when Ganduje became governor and had a fallout with Kwankwaso, he made things difficult for Sanusi to operate as Emir and, after six years in office, Ganduje sacked the emir, banishing him to Loko Village in Nassarawa State.
Lamido Sanusi’s friends led by Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasiru El-Rufai, mobilised a strong legal team that succeeded in securing freedom for the embattled Emir who was later moved to his personal house in Lagos and since then, he has been operating as Emir-in-Waiting.
Apart from being Chairman Governing Council, Kaduna State University, and Vice Chairman KADIPA, appointments are given to him by El-Rufai, Neptune Prime can report that Kaduna State Government has also built a befitting palace for Sanusi in Kaduna where he operates as a full-fledged Emir, with all protocol palace guards and official vehicles.
At the time of filing this report, our correspondent can report that his friends led by Kaduna State Governor are planning a befitting birthday for Sanusi.
