The Imo State Police Command has arrested a notorious kidnapping syndicate that has been terrorising the state lately.

This was disclosed by the state police spokesperson, Michael Abattam, who narrated that on July 3, a lady, Cornelia Oluebube of Amakohia in Owerri North LGA of Imo State, was reported to be kidnapped by unknown gunmen and taken to an unknown destination. He said the report prompt the Imo state command’s tactical teams to swing into action.

According to him after careful investigation, which involves the gathering of technical intelligence, the team were led to Delta State. Where they uncover a kidnapping syndicate and arrested the following suspects viz; Terry’s Mez “M” age 31 years of Aguleri in Anambra State, Willine Ebefal “M” age 21 years of Ogbokuno in Burutu LGA of Delta State, Obasanjo Kimakia ” M” age 20 years of Tamime in Burutu LGA of Delta State.

Abattam said after much interrogations, the three suspects gave out useful information of where they kept their victims, that took the Tactical teams to Delta State, where they were able to safely rescue the kidnapped victim, who has been formally reunited with her parents by the Commissioner of Police.

Later on, the team stormed the hideout of the Kidnappers in Tebegbe Water Side in Delta State, and arrested Augustine Irishaye “M” age 21 years, Jenifer Awolowo ” F” age 16 years, and Eyemgblausi Chugbwugburefa age 17 years all of Tibegbe in Burutu LGA of Delta state.

Abattam said the victim, Cornelia Oluebube who was kidnapped in Owerri was rescued unhurt. He said while the Tactical teams were escorting the suspects out of their hideout, one Terry Mez made an escape attempt, and was shot in the leg to prevent him from running away.

He said after The suspects reached the station, the wounded suspect was taken to The Nigeria Police Hospital Amakohia, Owerri Imo State to get medical attention. He added that the rest of the suspects are in custody and will be charged to court soon.
