President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of Professor Ibrahim Dantani Wushishi as Registrar/Chief Executive of the National Examinations Council (NECO).
The appointment which was contained in a letter dated 16th July 2021 with reference No: FME/PSE/NECO/1078/C.1/36, signed by the Minister of Education, Malam Adamu Adamu, stated that the appointment which is for an initial tenure of five years takes effect from the 12th of July, 2021.
Wushishi, a Professor of Science Education, according to a press statement signed by, Mr Azeez Sani, the Head of Information and Public Relations Division was born on the 5th April 1965 and from Wushishi Local Government Area of Niger State.
Until his recent appointment as NECO Registrar, Wushishi was a lecturer in the Faculty of Education, Usmanu Danfodio University (UDU), Sokoto, before he later transferred his services to the Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna.
Professor Wushishi has held several positions in the education sector among which are; Post Graduate Coordinator, Department of Science Education, FUT, Minna and as the Sub-Dean School of Science and Science Education, FUT, Minna.
Other positions Professor Wushishi has held before now included; Head of Department, Department of Science Education, FUT Minna and Head of Department, Department of Science Education of state-owned, Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University (IBBU), Lapai.
The statement also stated that Professor Wushishi was a Professor of Science Education (Chemistry) at the FUT, Minna and has many scholarly publications to his credit and he is married with children.
Recall that the appointment of Professor Wushishi followed the death of the former Registrar/Chief Executive, Professor Godswill Obioma who died a few months ago.
The Director of Special Duties of the Council, Mr Ebikibina John Ogborodi was immediately announced as Registrar and, has been in Acting capacity until now.
