Story from Ankeli EMMANUEL, Sokoto
Sokoto State governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal has condemned in strong terms, what he described as blasphemy against Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) by an already apprehended individual in the State.
Tambuwal in a statement read on his behalf by the State Commissioner for information, Isah Bajini Galadanci noted that his administration will not tolerate such against Prophet Muhammad or any other Prophet.
The statement by Isah read in part,
“The Government of Sokoto State has viewed with concern the blasphemous act by a certain unscrupulous person against the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W).
“The Governor of Sokoto State, Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal CFR (Mutawallen Sokoto) on behalf of the Government and People of Sokoto State condemns in strongest terms the unholy behaviour, stressing that his government would not condone such acts against Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) or any other Prophet of God or His Scriptures”
While noting that the state government in collaboration with the security agencies and other relevant authorities are taking necessary steps to ensure appropriate measures, Tambuwal added that the suspect has been apprehended and investigations are ongoing.
“Consequent upon which the suspect will be brought before a competent court of law to face justice accordingly”
Bajini further noted that “The State Governor Rt. Hon. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal cautions against politicizing the issue saying its time to come together in matters such as this”
Commending the coalition of youths in Sokoto state who in spite of partisan divides came together and approached relevant authorities on the disrespect, rather Tambuwal frowns against blasphemy in Sokoto than taking the law into their hands, Tambuwal further urged the people of the State to maintain peace and order as all necessary measures are on course to address the issue.
