Story from Saviour OSUOHA, Owerri.
The youths of Ifakala community, in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo state have said that a man, Ambrose Nwokedi, who is still on the run for beating to coma his elder kinsman, Pa Michael Achim, 96, would be given 40 strokes of cane as punishment before being taken to police custody.
This was disclosed by the president of Ifakala Youth Organisation, Mr Vincent Asoka, in an interview on Saturday, at Nkwo-Nnudo market square, who told NEPTUNE PRIME, that the culprit had initially been in police custody over the kidnapping of persons from the community.
Asoka further stated that the suspect, Ambrose Nwokedi, a native of Umuagwu-Ifakala in Mbaitoli LGA of Imo State, has assaulted, hurt, and threatened the lives of indigenes of the community, especially the aged persons of the community, who had warned him to desist from criminal and notorious activities in the community.
Adding that the youth wing of the community has concluded plans to flog the suspect 40 strokes of the cane if apprehended, Asoka noted with disappointment that, the said Nwokedi carries out his treacherous activities, including unjust assaults on elderly people in the area without exemption, and fear of gangsterism.
The youths, however, threatened to hand him over to the police, shortly after the corporal punishment reserved for the kingpin.
