A rights group, Civil Society Conference for Peace, Security and National Development had praised the Nigerian Air Force for its huge role in neutralizing 120 bandits in multiple airstrikes in Sububu Forest of Zamfara state.
This commendation was made known in a statement released to NAN and signed by Mr Adamu Kabir, the head of the group, in Abuja.
He said the news of various airstrikes by the Nigerian airforce officials, which also led to the death of dozens of bandits had reassured the group about the importance of its constant appeals and persuasion to citizens to provide useful information to security agencies.
Kabir also appreciates citizens who on a daily basis never relent in giving useful information about the activities of bandits to the security agents, adding that “the war against banditry and other criminal activities will indeed be won if the citizens cooperate fully with security agencies”.
The statement further reads “According to the report and further confirmation from NAF spokesman, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, the victory was achieved because the troops acted swiftly on the basis of information provided by locals.
“We hereby reiterate our appeal to all citizens to report suspicious activity to the appropriate security agencies.
What security agencies can achieve depends to a reasonable extent on the support they receive from the general public.”
