Story from Saleh INUWA, Kano

On Sunday, the Governor of Borno State, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum was thrilled as a result of the massive turnout by residents of Baga, one of the Local Governments ravaged by Boko Haram before professor Zulum brought it to life.

On three occasions in the past, the Governor narrowly escaped being assassinated when he insisted on visiting Baga to see for himself the condition the people were facing there. Thrice, he was attacked by uniformed men suspected to be disgruntled members of our security forces.

According to Neptune Prime sources, the Governor was briefed that there are some security agents that did not want him to go to Baga, because, instead of fighting Boko Haram, they were fully involved in some shady business. In fact, it was reported by some foreign media that Boko Haram militants and some security agents were alleged to be collaborators, making billions of naira, and that was why they chased all the villagers from Baga.

Professor Zulum vowed that even if he were to lose his life, he must visit Baga, rehabilitate them, give them foodstuff and money, including clothes so that they will feel a sense of belonging in society and he succeeded in doing that by successfully visiting Baga town on more than three occasions. At the time of this report, the Governor has erected comfortable structures for them.

When he visited Baga yesterday, it was like a carnival, people came out in their thousands to welcome the people’s Governor, Zulum, who was a former Rector of Ramat Polytechnic, and Chairman IDP resettlement committee.
