Jose Mourinho, a Portuguese professional football manager and former player is the current head coach of Serie A club Roma.
“The special one” as he fondly calls himself is widely considered to be one of the greatest managers of all time and is one of the most decorated managers ever.
He has managed several European clubs, winning several titles and honours with Porto, Chelsea, Inter Milan and Real Madrid.
However, here are reasons why Jose Mourinho deserves to be called the greatest coach in the 21st century.
Here is a full list of his success at each club he has managed.
1. FC Porto (from 2002 to 2004). He took over when they were 5th and led them to third in 6 months. In 2002/2003, Jose Mourinho won the league, Portugal Cup and also UEFA Cup. In the 2003/2004 season, Jose won the league title again but the biggest achievement that one can do is winning the UEFA Champions League with FC Porto.
2. Chelsea (from 2004 to 2007). In his first season, Jose Mourinho won the league with records standing till today, also won the league cup that year. Next season, he won the Community Shield, League Cup and English Premier League title again. The year after he won the FA Cup and then in mid 2007/2008, he left by mutual consent.
3. Inter Milan (2008 to 2010). In the first season, he won the Italian Super Cup and the Serie A. In the following season, he led Inter to the treble, UEFA Champions League, Serie A, Italian Cup, the only Italian team to ever win it.
4. Real Madrid (2010 to 2013). He joined to stop FC Barcelona’s dominance. In his first year, he won the Copa del rey and lost the UEFA Champions League semifinal. The following year, he became the first manager to reach 100 points, the best La Liga campaign ever. In the next and last season, he won the Super Cup.
5. Chelsea (2014 to 2016). Jose Mourinho came back to Chelsea and won the League and League Cup in his first season back. The second was terrible and Jose left mid-season by mutual consent.
