Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger State has expressed sadness over the death of retired Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police and a former Senator for Niger North, Nuhu Aliyu.
This was disclosed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Niger State, Mary Noel-Berje.
Aliyu died on Wednesday in Kaduna State following a brief illness.
In a condolence message, the Governor described the deceased as an accomplished elder statesman who dedicated most of his life to the service of humanity.
The Governor said the death of late DIG Aliyu is a great loss not only to the state but the country at large.
According to him, “it is sad to hear the news of the death of a great man who was committed to service to the nation in a different capacity and was a father to many. We however cannot question the acts of Allah“.
The Governor prayed Allah to forgive all the shortcomings of the deceased, and grant him Aljannh Firdausi.
He also prayed that Allah will grant all the family members, close associates and the people of Niger zone C Senatorial District the fortitude to bear the great loss.
Late DIG Aliyu born in 1941, was a former Senator who represented Zone C from 2003 to 2011.
