Senator Joy Emordi, a member Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has defected from the party to the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Wednesday.
The Chairman of the APC Caretaker Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee and Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, formally received Emordi in a brief ceremony in Abuja.
Governor Buni expressed happiness with the decision taken by Emordi to contribute to the unity of Nigeria.
He said the coming of the Senator and other prominent politicians from the South-East into the APC would promote Nigeria’s unity.
According to him, the South East is a strong political block and very crucial to the unity of Nigeria which will no doubt add to national cohesion.
Meanwhile, Emordi described the APC leadership as sincerely and genuinely committed to a united Nigeria that has plans for the future generation.
According to her, the future of a prosperous and united Nigeria lies in the APC.
“The APC-led Federal Government is working for the South East and this is attracting more PDP members into APC,” Emordi said.
This is coming less than 24 hours after some members of the National Working Committee (NWC), of the PDP, including the Deputy National Financial Secretary, Deputy Legal Adviser, Deputy National Auditor, Deputy National Publicity Secretary, Deputy Women Leader, and Deputy Organising Secretary, resigned from their various positions.
