The management team of Yobe State Drugs and Medical Consumables Management Agency (YODMA) led by its Executive Secretary, Pharmacist Abdul’aziz Garba Muhammad on Wednesday embarked on an advocacy visit to Damaturu and Gujba Emirate Councils respectively.

YODMA and the Yobe State Contributory Health Management Agency (YSCHMA) are twin agencies established by the Yobe State government to cater for the healthcare needs of Yobeans, including the less privileged and vulnerable.

Stating his mission, Pharmacist Muhammad said the visit was to advocate for the support and cooperation of the traditional institutions in the state because of the key role they play in societal development and to bring to the councils’ notice the reasons behind the establishment of the agency.

The YODMA boss sought the support of the councils in educating and enlightening their people, explaining that the administration of His Excellency, the Governor of Yobe State, Honourable Mai Mala Buni, saw the need to create the pharma/health supply chain agency to cater for the health needs of the people of the state through the provision of quality and affordable health commodities.

In a statement signed by the Information and Public Relations Officer of YODMA, Suleiman G. Y. Bakoro, Pharmacist Muhammad told the people that the state governor had assured the agency of his support at all times for the benefit of the people of Yobe.

And having thanked the two Emirs for their fatherly support and guidance all the while, he assured them of YODMA’s readiness for continuous collaboration and partnership with the Emirate Councils in moving the agency forward.

In their separate remarks, the two Emirs thanked YODMA for the advocacy visit and commended the agency for the good job it has been doing in improving the health needs of the people of the state since its creation. They also expressed their sincere appreciation to the State Ministry of Health, its agencies and the entire health workforce for their efforts in keeping the state health facilities functional across the 17 local government areas of the state.

The Emir urged the agency to look for other ways of sensitising and enlightening the public on the importance of the agency and used the opportunity to call on people of the state to rally around the agency and give it the needed support and cooperation for it to succeed.
