Many firefighters from various organisations including the American University of Nigeria (AUN), Air Force Fire Service, Adamawa State Fire Service, Federal Medical Centre Fire Service Department, were seen putting heads together to stop the raging inferno which completely destroyed the diesel tanker.

Efforts to find out whether lives were lost in the incident proved abortive as combined efforts from firefighters, policemen and men of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) were seen struggling to address the incident.

An eyewitness, who was riding a tricycle behind the tanker before the explosion, said the accident occurred when the tanker driver was trying to navigate the roundabout corner, so the container caring the premium motor spirit (PMS) separated from the main trunk.

As of the time of filling in this report, all activities along the PZ roundabout has been stabilised and normal activities have been resumed.
