Nasarawa Assembly passes judiciary financial autonomy bill into law

The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has passed into law a bill to repeal and re-enact the Nasarawa State judiciary financial management law and other matters connected therewith.
Honourable Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, the Speaker of the House, announced the passage of the bill into law during the House proceedings on Tuesday in Lafia, the state’s capital.
Abdullahi said that the bill if assented to by Governor Abdullahi Sule, will ensure the financial autonomy of the judicial arm of government.
According to him, “a bill for a law to repeal and re-enact the Nasarawa State judiciary financial management law and other matters connected therewith is read the third time and passed.
“I want to commend you all for a job well done.
“The law is to assist the judiciary to carry out its responsibilities effectively,” he said.
The speaker directed the clerk to the House to produce a clean copy of the bill for Governor Sule’s assent.
“May I request the Clerk to produce a clean copy of the bill for vetting before transmitting to His Excellency, the Executive Governor, Engr. Abdullahi Sule for assent,” the speaker said.
Although the bill was sponsored by Honourable Umar Tanko Tunga, the majority leader of the house, his deputy, Honourable Daniel Ogazi, moved a motion for it to scale the third reading.
Honourable Abel Bala, the minority leader of the House seconded the motion and the House unanimously passed the bill into law.
