APC, UBE Commends PMB’s intervention in Basic Education across the country

The Team Leader, Federal Government UBE Project Inspection across the States of the Federation, Dr Tom Ohikere, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari over his commitment to the funding of the Basic Education subsector across the country.
Dr Ohikere disclosed this on Thursday in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital, at the commencement of the Monitoring and Inspection of the Basic Education subsector of the State by the National Media Team of All Progressives Congress (APC), said the team’s mission is to authenticate the claims of the Kogi State Government on Basic Education.

According to him, the visit will enable the team to look at the learning environment, teachers welfare with a view to carrying out an impact analysis that is critical to the development of Basic Education as envisioned by the APC led administration.
While pointing out that the visit is not for fault finding, Ohikere disclosed that it will enable the APC led administration to showcase the outstanding achievements it has recorded in the Basic Education subsector across the country, insisting that the APC governors have done excellently well amidst scarce resources.
While welcoming the team, the state commissioner of Education Science and Technology, Mr Wemi Jones, noted that the Governor has been very committed to the funding of education in the state and provide intervention in both human capital and infrastructural development in the education sector.
Earlier, the Executive Chairman, Kogi State Universal Basic Education Board, (SUBEB), Suleiman Ndalaye commended Governor Yahaya Bello over his commitment to funding of the Basic Education subsector in the State adding that the government have been very consistent with the payment of its counterpart fund to National SUBEB, particularly, the Basic Education subsector.
He said, “without any iota of exaggeration, the State Basic Education subsector has never had it so good as is witnessed under the present administration.”
The SUBEB Chairman disclosed that Governor Yahaya Bello has performed excellently well in his administration’s commitment to funding education, particularly the Basic Education Subsector, insisting that the commitment is in human capital and in infrastructural development.
According to Ndalaye, the present administration has built and rehabilitated several schools across the state, equipped them with furniture, VIP toilets, even as he expressed satisfaction that the Basic Education Subsector across the state can now boast of Computer and Science Laboratories.
The Chairman added that under the present administration, Basic Schools are now equipped with boreholes, sporting arenas, noting that the teaching curriculum has also placed more emphasis on entrepreneurship development.
He stressed that it is the intention of the present administration that after nine years of Basic Education, graduates from the State should be self-sustaining, adding that the 6-3-3-4 policy of education is geared towards making graduates stand on their own and appreciated Governor Bello for the unprecedented commitment to entrepreneurship development in Basic Schools in the State.
The Chairman maintained that he was able to drive Governor Bello’s policy for Basic Education with passion, leveraging on his experience as a Labour Leader and Former Chairman of the NUT.
