Gunmen attack travellers, kidnap 18 in Ondo
Gunmen have abducted 18 travellers who were travelling at night in a Toyota Hiace bus in Ondo State. The victims were abducted on Wednesday night along the Ifira-Akoko/Idoani road in Akoko South East Local Government Area of the state.
The gunmen attacked the travellers and started shooting into the air to scare the passengers, the passengers were said to have been marched into a forest after their attackers ordered them out of the vehicle at gunpoint.

The Commander of Ondo State Security Outfit, codenamed Amotekun, Adetunji Adeleye, confirmed the incident to Channels Television.
Adeleye said after the gunmen attack the travellers’ bus, they made away with 18 of the passengers, but fortunately, the operatives of the agency were able to rescue 14 of the victims, and are currently putting in efforts to rescue the rest of the victims.
Similarly, the Divisional Police Officer for Isua-Akoko, Mr Hakeem Sadiq confirmed the incident to newsmen in Akure on Thursday.
Though the Divisional Police Officer couldn’t give many details about the incident, he, however, said the anti-kidnapping unit was already working with other sister agencies to ensure that the travellers were rescued unhurt.
