World Teacher’s Day: We’re committed to the safety of students, schools – KGSG

As the world celebrates Teacher’s Day, the Kogi State Government has reiterated its commitment to the safety of schools in the State.
The Commissioner of Education, Science and Technology, Mr Wemi Jones stated this while speaking with Neptune Prime in Lokoja on the Celebration.
Mr Jones pointed out that the government is doing everything possible to secure the wellness of students, staff and schools across the State, he assures good welfare for teachers which according to him is paramount to the State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
The Commissioner, who described Teachers as one of the most important stakeholders in the Education sector, commended them for their sacrifice and contributions to the growth of Education in the state.

“Welfare of teachers is paramount to the mind of His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the Executive Governor of Kogi State. He is mindful of the critical role of teachers to the growth of Education sector.”
He congratulated teachers on the celebration and for holding the fourth despite the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic and insecurity in the country.
“Though Kogi schools have been affected by Covid-19 pandemic and insecurity, the government is working round the clock to ensure that lives and properties in our schools are adequately protected.”
Mr Jones further said “The truth of the matter is that governor Bello is committed to reforming education, the only thing that we were known for in this part of the country is Education. It is only education that will take the son of a nobody to become somebody in life and this government is committed to ensuring that the glory of education is brought back in Kogi State.”
The theme of World Teacher’s Day 2021 is, “Teachers at the Heart of Education Recovery.”
The theme recognises teachers for their tireless efforts to keep teaching even during hardships like COVID-19 Pandemic.
The principal, Government Day Secondary School, Muslim Community Lokoja, Mallam Saleh Salihu advised the government to give more attention to the education sector and give top attention to the welfare of teachers.
Mallam Salihu called for training and retraining of teachers at all levels for better performance and congratulate teachers on the occasion.
