Mr Afolabi said the importance of culture cannot be overemphasised in the life of every human as it helps them trace their root and what they stand for.

“Our culture is very important to us, it’s a mirror that shapes the society and defines who we are as a people.

“I must confess that Kogi state is highly blessed with a lot of cultures and it gladdens my heart that Lokoja Forum of Patriots and other partners deemed it fit to organise the Lokoja Boat Regatta Festival.

“Everything I have seen here impresses me; no doubt, Kogi is on the pedestal of making a mark among the committee of states with rich cultural heritage that will be reckoned with nationally and outside the shores of this country.”

The SA Special Duties pointed out that today’s youths have access to various social media platforms, calling on them to use such pedestals to promote their culture to the outer world.

Mr Afolabi said the Governor Yahaya Bello-led administration has great regards for the culture and tradition of the people of the Confluence State, charging them to do their best at complimenting such privilege by showcasing their culture wherever they found themselves.

He commended youths in Lokoja Local Government Area for participating actively in the Boat Regatta Festival, stressing that the event has afforded them the opportunity to showcase their talents.

He appreciate those that organised the program, saying it was a wake-up call for the people to appreciate their culture and enjoined them to sustain the zeal for organising the event, adding that it will go a long way at promoting the culture and tradition of the people of the state.
