Constituents raise alarm over deplorable state of bridge linking Wase-Langtang road in Plateau
Story from Yakubu VENTIM, Jos
The people of Wase and Langtang North Local Government Councils have raised alarm over the deplorable nature of the bridge linking the two LGAs as the contractors handling the project have abandoned the site.
The abandoned project has caused farmlands and crops to be affected by devastating erosions washing off the entire area and causing severe flood disasters.

The constituents explained that their communities are predominantly peasant farmers that depend on the road to sell their farm produce after harvest because of the proximity between the two LGAs.
Apart from the road turning into a death trap, there is no accessible network to connect Kadarko, Finu, Lamba-Jarmai, Lamba to Bashar and Mavo to Company Zurak where there are mineral deposits that always cause internal conflict.
The Wase Federal Constituent has raised the alarm to know the whereabouts of the contractors handling the project.
The bridge connecting Wase-Langtang North LGA was destroyed by heavy rainfall in 2007 where farmlands worth millions were washed away.
Meanwhile, the contract for the rebuilding of Malamu Wase-Langtang Bridge was awarded in 2020 and funded by “SHIRU KAKEJI” but the people of Wase and Langtang North have been left to suffer series of accidents during the rainy seasons especially around June and August due to the abandonment of the project.
