Dangote, FMCA train Northeast journalists on convergence journalism
Dangote Industries Limited has commenced a 3-day critical media practice workshop for Northeast Journalists in Yola, Adamawa state.
The theme of the training is ‘the convergence journalism’. The workshop has support from Folio Media Creative Academy and is being held at King Doken Diplomatic Suites, Jimeta, Yola, Adamawa state.
According to the Project Coordinator, Folio Media and Creative Academy, Alabi Pius said (FMCA) is the training arm of Folio Communications Plc. Publishers of Daily Times newspaper conceived to equip Journalists, Media Executives, Public Relations Officers and other professionals to critically analyze the nation’s development trajectory, democratization process, social change as well as gain creative and technical media production skills.
He said the essence of the training is to empower Journalists and enable them perfect networking, build strong relationships among themselves. “This is one of the corporate social responsibilities by Dangote Industries Limited”.

The Corporate Communications Officer, Dangote Industries Limited, Jibrin Abubakar said the importance of the training workshop cannot be overemphasized as it has brought the Journalists under one umbrella to interact with each other.
Abubakar said that Dangote Industries Limited has offered interventions in so many ways of human services like health, education, economy and many others.
“We also intervene on the annual media parley, we roll out various media programmes, we empower our Journalists through capacity building and public relations”.
He revealed that the engagement will go a long way in improving the process and gains of online media practitioners, improve entrepreneurship among journalists “Alhaji Aliko Dangote takes Journalists, Journalism very seriously”.
In his presentations, one of the resource persons, Dr Abdullahi Bashir explained the concept of convergence, forms of media convergence, power of convergence media and convergence journalism.
