Kano Assembly investigates alleged extortion at School of Health Technolgy

The Kano State House of Assembly has constituted a committee to investigate the alleged extortion of students at the School of Health Technology, Kano.
The decision followed a motion presented by a member representing Doguwa local government area, Salisu Ibrahim Muhammad, during House plenary on exorbitant fees paid by students of Kano State School of Health Technology.

The lawmaker argued that students of the institution decried the irregular payments of dues to the school without issuing receipts.
He recalled that despite being a unionist during his school days, he had never been directed to collect money from students on behalf of institution management.
The House constituted an eight-member committee to investigate and submit a report within two weeks.

The members of the committee comprise chairmen of four House standing committees.
They are; Umar Musa Gama (Public Petition), Salisu Muhammad (Public Account), Nuhu Abdullahi Achika (Health) and chairman House Committee on Higher Education.
The House adjourned its sitting to Monday 25th October 2021.
