Some eyewitnesses that spoke to journalists alleged that the operation lasted more than thirty minutes. One Maryam Gatawa who is in a commercial vehicle that arrived the scene of the operation said she narrowly escaped being abducted or killed by the bandits.
A victim who spoke to the press said around 2-3 pm yesterday on his way from Abuja to Gusau, he met a roadblock been manned by some security personnel. And he later found out that there was an attack on soldiers operating on the road by bandits. He added that he even halped some police officers to evacuate the bodies of the dead soldiers.
All efforts for Army formations in Gusau and Zamfara police command to speak on the incident was not successful. But the incident actually happened, with relations of the deceased soldiers already in mourning.
The unfortunate incident signifies that bandits are still operating in Zamfara State and have mustered courage to even attack soldiers.
