Though I’m Christian, I decided to compose a song for the Holy Prophet (S.A.W) – Zarah Aloysius
Story from Saleh INUWA/Shafa’atu DAUDA
Zarah Aloysius, popularly known as Stephanie in Dadin Kowa Programme being shown in Arewa 24, is a Christian from Adamawa State. She decided to relocate to Kano a few years back to join Kannywood as an actress and almost a household name within the Kannywood family.
Recently, she composed a song in memory of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W) and since then she has been subjected to a series of criticisms by Ulamas and other Muslim leaders, who argued that, if she can compose a song for the Holy Prophet (S.A.W), she needs to change her faith and know the nitty-gritty of Islam so that she will not go out of context.

Neptune Prime’s correspondent met her and sought her opinion on this and other issues. She revealed that she comes from a family of both Muslims and Christians and in their area, a Christian can be as vast in Islamic knowledge as a Muslim.
“If you watch the way I dress since I came to Kano, I have changed a lot. Anything can happen in my life in the nearest future. Actually, my role in Dadin Kowa is about a Christian lady falling in love with a poor Muslim and rejecting a rich Christian. Take a look at my recent birthday pictures; it will definitely be food for thought for many people,” she added.
She said Kannywood is an industry that does not discriminate between Christians and Muslims.
“I have a friend, Beatrice Auta, who is also very successful in the industry, although both of us are Christians and not Hausa/Fulani Muslims.
Please people should pray for me so that I will continue to follow the right path in my life. I am a producer running a programme called “Yarkabila” but my crew are mostly Muslims. Let us use religion and unite our country for purposes of development,” she urged.
