Why I resigned as head of Trustees, Fagge, Jummat Mosque (Video)
Story from Saleh INUWA, Kano
Sheikh Tijjani Kalarawi has resigned his position as the Head of Trustees, Fagge Jummat Mosque and its spiritual leader.
Sheikh Kalarawi, when tendering his resignation letter, explained that he is furious with the present Kano State Government, which has the tendency of selling lands that belong to mosques and other historical places.

He noted that the Kano Central Jummat Mosque has now been reduced to a very small mosque, because the state government sold all lands surrounding the mosque to some powerful politicians in the state, leading to a chaotic situation because those going there to pray daily or on Friday no longer have a space to park their vehicles.
He said that even traders and other people that hang around the mosque to display assorted brands of clothes and foodstuff for people to go and buy have now lost such opportunity, as there is no space left for them to display their goods.
It could be recalled that for a long time, opposition parties in Kano have been accusing the Ganduje administration of selling lands belonging to mosques, historical areas and other places that can be developed for useful purposes. Some of them have even indicated their willingness to revoke such lands if they form the next government in Kano.
