Caught Red Handed: Teenager in Kano arrested with 3-year-old in bag

The Kano State Police Command has arrested a 15-year-old boy in Sabon Gari Area, Fagge Local Government with a 3-year-old boy in a bag. He was said to be on his way to an unknown place to sell the boy.
The Public Relations Officer of Kano Police Command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who paraded the boy before the press, announced that they were alerted by well-meaning Nigerians that saw the accused putting the boy in a bag, and because of the character of the suspect, they quickly called the police.

The PPRO added that the operation that led to the arrest of the suspect was handled by the DPO of Sabon Gari, Manir Madugu on the instruction of Kano State Commissioner of Police Sumaila Shuaibu.
The mother of the boy in her remark said that she was told by neighbours that a young man was seen putting her son in a bag, though her boy hardly goes out, in most cases, even if he goes out, she would send somebody to bring him back, as such this particular incident is unfortunate.
Though her son was returned to her safely, she was still in a state of shock, especially considering the fact that the accused is only 15 years of age, which means that he must has been given the contract by some criminals to get them a boy for ritual purposes.
The accused confessed that he is a thief, he takes drugs, smokes and he is into the business of selling second-hand and stolen iron to welders.
According to him, he takes drugs and at the time the Police paraded him before the press, he was still under the influence of drugs.
“Yes, I am a petty thief,” he confessed. “I was caught with the boy when I put him in a bag but this is the first time I am doing dis and I cannot say exactly what they intend to do with the boy. All I used to do in the past was steal iron and some materials and sell to earn a living”.
