Bayero University thrown into mourning as female student dies in hostel

Bayero University Kano has lost a 400 level student from the Faculty of Education, Binta Isa, who died on Friday night after a brief illness.
The deceased hailed from Kogi State, and was pronounced death around 7pm after she briefly complained of chest pain.
A statement issued by the University Head of Public Affairs, Lamara Garba Azare said the Director of the University Health Services, said the late Binta Isa had previously visited the New Campus Clinic, on Wednesday, 24th November, complained of chest pain in which she was diagnosed and administered with some drugs.
The Director further explained that the deceased had responded to treatment in which she continued attending her lectures on Thursday and Friday, as well as other routine activities, ‘’The statement said.
‘’On Friday, 26th November, 2021 in the evening during Magrib prayer, she again complained of mild chest pain to her roommates but she managed to perform ablution and prayed the Maghrib prayer in the room.’’
According to the statement, however, the roommates were shocked to have come back and met her lying on the floor.
The statement said they immediately raised an alarm in which she was taken to the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital where she was confirmed dead by doctors.
It noted that the Vice Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas along with the University Registrar, Malam Jamil Ahmad Salim, Director University Health Services as well as the Director of Security, Abdulyakin Ibrahim were all at the scene.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, on behalf of the Management, staff and students of the University, has expressed sadness over the death of the young Binta Isa, who died in her prime. He sent a heartfelt condolence to her parents, relatives and colleagues. He prayed to Allah to forgive her short comings and grant her Jannatul Firdaus.’’
