13 employees of Zaria local government, Kaduna State who were returning from a condolence visit, were abducted recently by gunmen.
The saddening incident was reported to have occurred along Giwa and Zaria road at about 5 pm on Monday. It was gathered that only the driver of the vehicle was pardoned in order to relate the incident to the families of the victims and the local government headquarters.
A relative to one of the victims confirmed to the press that the victims were returning from a condolence visit when they were attacked and kidnapped.
Following this, the Kaduna state students wing, Coalition of Northern Group (CNG) have threatened to shut Zaria down.
In a statement that was signed by the coordinator, Jamilu Musa, he expressed sadness and disappointment at the failure and inability of the government both at federal and state levels to profer plausible solutions to ensure public safety and security in the country.
The CNG grieved at the height of insecurity in the state as they described the victims of the kidnap as parents of most students across institutions in the state and called on the relevant authorities to secure and rescue, within a week, all victims of the recent kidnap and other victims still being held in captivity or face possible mass action.
