Insecurity in FCT: Muslim cleric found dead in uncompleted building

An Imam with the Kubwa Muslim Cemetery, identified as Malam Abdurrashid Usman has been found dead in an uncompleted building near his farm.

The muslim cleric was found dead on Thursday, November 18 in an uncompleted building in Kubwa after he went into the bush to fetch some firewood.

A relative of the Imam, Adamu, said Abdurasshid left home at about 10 am on Wednesday, November 17, and did not return.

Adamu said the Imam’s who had also left the house to sell some of her wares became aware of his absence after she returned at 6 pm.

According to Adamu, when after 8 pm the Imam was yet to return home, family members and his neighbours began to search the area for him.

Adamu said: “We dispersed into the bush around Gado-Nasko Farm from 8 pm till 12 am, but we could not trace him, apart from his clothes, a wheel truck that he used, as well as his axe, and the firewood.”

He added that when Abdurasshid was nowhere to be found another search party was deployed to make a report at the FCDA Quarters police division.

He said the search for the Imam continued on Thursday morning around the same location and they were all on the verge of losing hope when some suggested they search an uncompleted building in the area.

“We met his body with injuries on his head looking like he was hit with some of the firewood found close to the body.”

He noted that the deceased, a native of Warawa in Kano state left behind two wives and some children.

Neptune Prime reports that he has since been buried.

However,when contacted, the divisional police officer in the area, said the matter is yet to be reported to the Nigeria police for action.
