Insecurity: Zamfara re-opens weekly markets after two-month closure

The Governor of Zamfara state Bello Matawalle has approved the re-opening of seven weekly markets which were closed for two months as part of measures to address insecurity in the state.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the State Commissioner for Information Alhaji Ibrahim Dosara, yesterday in Gusau, the state capital.

He said “This is to inform the general public that following reports of sanity in some parts of the state, and series of requests by members of the public, the government has considered and approved re-opening of the following weekly markets.

Dosara noted that the state government, however, did not approve the re-opening of the livestock markets (kara) and other markets, he has also warned against any attempts to violate the orders guiding the reopening.
