The Kogi State Commissioner of Police, CP Idrisu Dauda Dabban on Tuesday afternoon, confirmed the abduction of the mother of Pharmacist Abdulkarim Jamiu Asuk, the Chief of Staff (CoS) to Governor Yahaya Bello.

The victim, Mrs Seriya Raji, was reported to have been abducted by unknown gunmen on Monday evening at her residence in Inese/Ovakere new layout in Nagazi community, Adavi Local Government Areas of the state.

Witnesses said the gunmen stormed her resident at about 7:40 p.m shortly after she had observed her evening (Ishai) prayer in her Mosque within the compound.

The abductors according to the source were six in number, all dressed in black suits with masks holding a bag (Ghana Must Go bag), suspected to be housing some guns and other dangerous weapons.

The sources said the gunmen entered her house through the Mosque and whisk her away to a yet to be identified destination using the car they brought.

As of the time of filing this report, the abductors are yet to contact the family members of their victim to demand any ransom.

The CP while confirming the incident to Neptune Prime’s reporter in Lokoja on Tuesday afternoon, however, said his men have combed the entire central senatorial district and border towns in Edo with a view to rescuing the mother of the CoS.

The Commissioner assured that the command will not rest on its oars until the abductors are apprehended and the victim rescued unhurt and charged all the divisional police officers to be proactive in the search and rescue operation.
