The botched peace walk was announced on November 30, 2021, when the governor invited front liners of the EndSARS protest in the state in October 2020 as an initiative geared towards “the healing of Lagos.”

However, those invited, Folarin Falana popularly known as Falz, popular comedian, Debo Adedayo (Mr Macaroni), Seun Kuti among others turned down the invitation.

But, the governor said he is “constrained to stand down all preparations for the Walk for Peace” so as not to “endanger the life of any Lagosian” amid the outbreak of the Omicron COVID-19 variant.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) on Tuesday confirmed additional three more cases of COVID-19 with the B.1.1.529 SARS-CoV-2 lineage, the Omicron variant, in Nigeria.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases of the Omicron variant detected in Nigeria to six.
