Jigawa Gov’t to spend over N500 million on water conversions

The Jigawa state government will spend over N500 million in reticulations and conversions of 24 new water points to over 20 communities of the state through the use of solar motorised boreholes.
This was disclosed by the Acting Managing Director of the state’s Small Towns Water Agency (STOWA), Engineer Adamu Garba while signing the bidding for the award of the aforementioned contracts.

Garba said that the proposed projects will cover the conversion of over 15 boreholes to motorised solar water systems intended to ease water supply to over 15 major towns in Jigawa state.
Similarly, the projects will cover the execution of major water treatment to 34 water points of Shuwarin water point distributions where it was expected that the waterworks projects will cover 14 community settlements within the Shuwarin axis.
Engineer Adamu further said that about 51 different water Engineers have participated in the biddings of the Shuwarin regional waterworks expected to be awarded to the successive bidders, stressing that a verification committee saddled with the responsibility of shortlisting the approved firms for the award of the contracts has been formed already.
Earlier in his remarks, at the occasion which took place at the Conference Hall of the Jigawa State Ministry of Water Resources, Alhaji Isma’ila Abdul-Aziz Dawaki charged the successful firm in the biddings to have a fear of God and execute a quality job of the contracts in line with the state Bureau for Due Process and Monitoring Unit.
One of the representatives of the participating firm in the biddings, Alhaji Adamu Haruna Kwallam and Due Process representative, Alhaji Alasan Abbas also enjoined the successful bidder amongst the bidders to have fear of God and follow the Due Process guidelines in offering a good service delivery.
Abbas warned that the Bureau for Due Process will not hesitate to reject any sub-standard projects, stressing that the government will only honour and work with diligent and committed firms in the execution of state government projects.
