Neptune Prime donates N1m as Potiskum local govt realises over N136m education fund

In line with Governor Mai Mala Buni’s directives on post insurgency education recovery efforts, Potiskum Local Government Area of Yobe State has on Saturday launched it’s N100 million naira appeal fund.

The ceremony was held at the Local Government Council Secretariat in Potiskum town and was attended by sons and daughters of the area.

In his introductory remarks, the Chief host and Chairman of Potiskum Local Government Area, Honourable Salisu Muktari, appreciated the mass turn out of the sons and daughters of the local government. He described Potiskum town as the most populous in the state as well as an educationally committed place.

He urged the citizens to donate generously for the advancement of the education sector and participate in monitoring all educational projects in the area to ensure that standard is maintained.

Donations were received from the Chief launcher, Senator Ibrahim Mohammed Bomai, Special Guest of Honor, Abubakar D. Aliyu Minister of Power, Fika and Pataskum Emirate Council, Director-General National Orientation Agency, Dr. Garba Abari among others too numerous to mention.

Professor Muhammad Munkaila, the guest speaker in his presentations duelled on the importance of education to human life and economic growth.

Guest of Honor, Auwal Isa Bello who is the Deputy Speaker Yobe State House of Assembly also spoke on the importance of education.

Donations were received from the business Community, politicians, youths, religious leaders and other stakeholders.

The total amount realized, according to Potiskum Local Government Council Secretary, Idris Bowu was one hundred million, one hundred and thirty six thousand naira (N136,000,000) while donations are still being expected.

Among the donors are Dr Hassan Gimba, Neptune Prime publisher, who donated two pages of Neptune Prime magazine valued at over ₦1,000,000, Senator Bomai and family, ₦15,000,000 and the Minister of Power, Engineer Abubakar D Aliyu who mobilized financial support worth N40 Million.
