The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has confirmed that the Director General (DG) of Voice of Nigeria, VON, Mr. Osita Okechukwu, is currently in its custody over a case of conspiracy, abuse of office and misappropriation of public funds to the tune of N1.3 billion.
Wilson Uwujaren, EFCC spokesperson, who confirmed the detainment told journalists that Mr. Okechukwu arrived the headquarters of the anti-graft agency in Abuja at about 1.30pm on Saturday to honour an invitation.
However, the VON DG was not allowed to go home, according to reports.
Further comments on his invitation was declined.
