After Maryam, I vowed never to marry again – IBB

Former Military President, President General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, has opened up for the first time on the reason why he decided not to take another wife after the death of Hajiya Maryam Babangida in 2009, about 12years ago.

The former Military President, who is now in his 80s revealed this in an exclusive interview with Trust TV.

Late Hajiya Maryam Babangida died on 12th December, 2009 at the age of 61 at University of California Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Centre (JCCC) in Los Angeles, United States after battling Ovarian Cancer for years.

Since her death over 12years ago, IBB came under pressure from close families and friends to take a second wife but he resisted that and remained single up to the time of this report, there were several speculations in the past that the retired 4-Star General got married silently but when asked during the interview, he said no, that he decided to remain single as a mark of respect for his Former Wife.

According to the former president, he is still very close to the media, and there is no way he will marry without people knowing about it, he said he is not a Bachelor but he is unmarried”.

Late Hajiya Maryam Babangida, the founder of the Better Life for Rural Women, is fondly remembered for how she cared for the less privileged especially in areas of scholarships and medical care.
