Allow internal democratic process to pick credible candidates – Group urges political parties

Political parties have been advised to ensure that they used every available internal democratic principles in order to have a rancor free process which will lead to the emergence of credible candidates.
This is as political parties in the country gear up for primary elections to pick their flag bearers for the various elective offices.
The advice was given by a political pressure group, ‘Northeast APC Vanguard for Buhari’ in a press statement signed by its Chairman, Alhaji Ahmed Mohammed, copies of which were made available to Journalists in Bauchi.
The statement read in parts “You will all agree with us that, the beauty of democracy can be ensured through political parties internal democracy. This internal democracy gives an avenue to faithful party men, who have studied and believe in the caprices of good governance, its tenets, pros and cons to fly as the flag bearers of the parties at the polls”.
To ensure that this is achieved, ‘Northeast APC Vanguard for Buhari’ stressed that stakeholders of each political parties must begin to avail a level playing ground for party faithfuls to be able to participate unhindered.
It stated that, “You will believe with us that, our country Nigeria needs a leader that is focused and dedicated, that will move the country forward to the next stage of development without rancor or discrimination” .
According to the group, “It is pertinent to start by saluting the tremendous contribution of the Minister of Niger Delta and the former Governor of Akwa Ibom state, Godswill Akpabio for the development of our dear country and his dedication towards development and sustainance of peace and unity in Nigeria”.
The group further stated that, “He is selfless, committed to the course of giving better life to the poor and vulnerable, restoring hope to the hopeless, a man who is capable of using his hard earned resources to uplift and better the life of humanity, irrespective of their social or economic status”.
“In the spirit of fairness and equity, we wish to call on the President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari to support Godswill Akpabio as the president of Nigeria come 2023. We believe this will move our country forward, majority of challenges facing the country will be solved”, it stressed.
It stated that, “We have hope and confidence that he will do his best to our dear country because he has shown exemplary leadership when he was the governor of Akwa Ibom state and presently as a serving Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.
“We therefore call on him to kick start consultation for this clarion call. We have already received endorsement letters from various APC youths and women groups across the country in support of Akpabio”, the group concluded.
