Police apprehend 14 kidnappers, recover live ammunition among others in Jigawa (Pictures)

Jigawa State Police Command on Wednesday apprehended 14 suspected kidnappers amongst which are killers of its personnel in the recent Kwallam kidnapping episode in Taura Local Government Area, while taking an abducted son-in-law to a popular Jigawa Government contractor, Haruna Maifata.

Briefing newsmen at the force headquarters in Dutse, the Jigawa State Police Commissioner, CP Aliyu Sale Tafida, said the arrest was as a result of an organised intelligent led raid codenamed Operation Flush Out which was carried out in Sule-Tankarkar LGA comprised of officers and men from Departments of Police Mobile Force, Criminal Investigations Department, State Intelligence Bureau, among others.

According to CP Tafida during the operations, three criminal hideouts were razed in Dakin Maizuwo, Dan Gwanki and Yandamo villages all in Sule-Tankarkar LGA.

During the raid, 14 kidnappers, 10 males, four females and their wards were apprehended. Other items recovered are 3 AK 47 Rifles, nine magazines and three hundred and eight live ammunitions of 6.7 mm, one burnt general-purpose machine gun (GPMG) with its two empty chains.

Similarly, one Toyota Hummer Bus was recovered from the hands of the suspected criminals, nine motorcycles, one cutlass, six different handsets with nine batteries, twelve sim cards, SD cards, and the sum of two million and seventy thousand naira suspected to be ransom fees.

CP Tafida, however, stated that during the operation his men were able to rescue a lady in the name of Hadiza Alh Chadi who was earlier abducted on 08/01/2022 at Marks village of Guri LGA.

Also, one motorcycle recovered belongs to one Andy Isah Sajo a commander of Yanbulala local security outfits who was also shot dead on the 25 of this month.

The CP reiterated the command’s stance not to relent on its oars of protecting the lives and properties of the good people of Jigawa state, in its quest in making the state a crime-free state.
