A passenger, Najib Lawal Jibrilu, who spoke exclusively with Neptune Prime said: “The free train ride by the Federal Government in conjunction with the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) should be reviewed, to be more organised and to avoid calamity.
“It is wrong for the station manager in Rigasa Kaduna to have failed to organise a single queue for the teeming passengers whose number could not be less than a thousand.
“The scramble to board the train without a security check to detect a possible passage of explosives or weapons on board the train is disheartening.
“I am appealing to the stakeholders to be proactive, impose a subsidy of 1,000 Naira for VIP and 500 Naira for commercial seats to reduce the number of free riders,” Jibrilu said.
The passengers called for a thorough review before the next free ride of passengers on the train.
Neptune Prime observed that some elderly people and children were pressed by the agile youths scrambling to board the free ride.
The Divisional Police Officer in charge of Rigasa, Supritendant Abubakar Bauranya did not comment on the disturbing situation at the time of filing this report.
