The Yobe State Police Command has disclosed that Haruna Garba has been deployed to the command as the new Commissioner of Police.
This was made known in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer, Nigeria Police Force (NPF), Yobe State Command, ASP Dingus Abdulkarim.
“This is to inform the general public that a new Commissioner of Police in person of CP Haruna G. Garba psc has been deployed to Yobe State Police Command which makes him the 31st Commissioner of Police since the creation of Yobe State,” the statement said in part.
Garba took over from the former Commissioner of Police, Yahaya Sahabo Abubakar psc(+) who has now been elevated to the rank of AIG.
The new Commissioner of Police hails from Kogi State and holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science and Administration from the University of Maiduguri, MSc. International Relations from the University of Uyo, Akwa-Ibom State.
He was appointed into the Nigeria Police Force as a cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police on 3rd March 1990. He has held Tactical and Strategic leadership positions in various departments of the Force across the Country.
Until his deployment as the Commissioner of Police Yobe State Police Command, he was the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of State CID in Yobe State.
He possesses vast experience in law enforcement, public order management and public safety, Intellectual property crime, Fundamental human rights, Crime Control and Community Policing.
“To this end, the Command wishes to use this medium to solicit the support of the members of the public to the new Commissioner of Police to enable him to serve you better in the course of providing security and public safety.
“Thank you for your usual cooperation,” the statement appealed.
