Killers of 20-year-old girl for money ritual in Ogun to be remanded in correctional facility

Four teenagers who killed 20-year-old Sofiat Kehinde, have been ordered by a magistrate court in Abeokuta, Ogun State to remain in correctional facility for two months.

The suspects, identified as Balogun Mustaqeem, 20; Majekodunmi Soliudeen, 18; Abdulgafar Lukman, 19; and Waris Oladeinde, 18, were arraigned on two counts of conspiracy and murder following their arrest on Saturday, January 29, 2022.

They were apprehended on Saturday while burning the head of their victim, who is said to be a girlfriend to Mustaqeem, in a pot for a money ritual.

The prosecutor, Lawrence Balogun, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on January 28, 2022, at about 11:00am in the Kugba area of Abeokuta.

According to the prosecutor, the defendants murdered the victim with the plan to use her for money ritual.

He further disclosed that the offence committed contravenes sections 324 and 316 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun 2006.

Justice I. O. Abudu, who presided over the case did not take the plea of the defendants and ordered that they should be remanded in correctional facility.

Abudu ordered that the defendants be remanded in the Oba correctional facility pending legal advice from the Ogun State Director of Public Prosecution (DPP). She adjourned the case until March 14, 2022 for mention.

It was gathered that the court premises was filled to the brim as the victim’s family and other sympathisers trooped to the court to witness the arraignment.
