Dignitaries commend Buni as Yobe education fundraiser reaches N10 billion and counting

Dignitaries present during the Yobe State education fundraiser in Abuja, have commended the initiative of Yobe state governor Hon. Mai Mala Buni to revitalize education in the state.

Chairman of the occasion, Ambassador Babagana Kingibe said, “Even though I am not from Yobe, but Borno State, nobody can separate the two. He urged all guests present to donate generously towards reviving the education sector in Yobe State, North-East region and Nigeria in general.

In a documentary, the Governor of Yobe State, Alhaji Mai Mala Buni said, ” My predecessor and now Senator Geidam has made a move to revive education after some primary and secondary schools have been destroyed by the Boko Haram insurgents.

“That is why when I was sworn-in, I declared emergency on education as this is the best legacy for the nation.”

Many indigenes of Yobe hailed the foresight of the present administration in having a bright future for the younger generation

During the event, Senator Rochas Okorocha requested for a land to build a school in the state, saying he will not give money but will construct a school.

A traditional ruler and a concerned parent, Alhaji Abba Hassan Mai Muktar, who is the District Head of Buniyadi in Gujba Emirate, in Yobe State said, “I am from the same Emirate with Governor Mai Mala Buni, I and my entourage came from Yobe to Abuja to support the course of reviving education in Yobe and we hope all should support the good gesture for the betterment of the state and the country.”

Similarly, a former Senator and one time governor of Yobe State Bukar Abba Ibrahim commended the governor and the event, saying it is one of its kind in the country.

“This gathering is fantastic because this initiative will help to revive education in the state, i advice the Governor to select patriotic, credible and Godfearing people that will invest every kobo of the money into education and nothing else. i believe after this event, it will reduce out of school menance in the state.

Speaking to Neptune Prime, the senior special assistant to Governor Buni on social development Zubairu Badamasi, applauded government’s efforts to revitalize education in Yobe State.

He said “As the first elected governor ever in Nigeria to initiate this kind of program, goes on to show that Buni will not relent in improving the education sector in Yobe, all thanks to his efforts Yobe students did exceedingly well in WAEC in 2020 and 2021, before now, our performance is very poor, we are always 27th or 35th on the list, but now we have been graded 6th in the country.

Hon. Zaynab Buba Galadima, a member of the planning committee applauded the determination of the Buni’s administration to restructure education in the state.

“As we all know, education is the bedrock of the society, once we have good education, we will have people that are engaged, enlightened and exposed to know what is better for themselves and the society. This great initiative has created a platform for children to have access to basic education. Governor Buni has identified the main problem, he is the first governor ever to thought of something this wonderful, an initiative which is one of its kind in the state and Nigeria as a whole, i salute his determination to see that every Yobe child get access to standard education.

The event was graced by Alhaji Dahiru Mangal, Governors Abubakar Badaru of Jigawa, Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti, Yahaya Bello of Kogi, Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto and Babagana Zulum of Borno.

As well as Emirs and Cheifs from the state graced the occasion.
