2023 Presidential Election: I will not support Tambuwal – Wike
Story from Saleh INUWA, Kano
River State Governor, Barrister Nyesome Wike has declared that he will not support the presidential ambition of Sokoto State Governor who is a bosom friend in the 2023 Presidential race because it is the desire of Southern Governors to have the presidency zone to them for fairness and equity.
Governor Wike revealed that in 2019, he used his connection, influence and money to ensure that Aminu Tambuwal emerged as the presidential candidate of PDP then and that was why he worked hard to ensure that he host the congress. Unfortunately, other issues came up and former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, emerged as their presidential candidate.

This time around it is even unfair for Tambuwal who is the Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum to be the first to declare his presidential ambition. I am calling on him to withdraw his presidential ambition, and also resign as chairman of PDP governor’s forum. Whether he heeds my advice or not, I will not support him this time around.
Southern Governors are working hard to ensure that any party that presents a Northerner as their presidential candidate will be rejected by us and our people. In 2023, the presidency must be zone to the south, already we have presidential materials in both PDP and APC in the south. As for me, I am yet to declare my ambition, but South will work collectively to produce the next president, he lamented in a statement issued to the media yesterday.
