A fresh disagreement emerged at the weekend between the National chairman Alhaji Yusuf Mamman Dantalle and the Board of trustees (BOT) chairman Mohammed Musa Bagana of the Allied people’s movement, plunging the party into deeper crises ahead of the 2023 general elections.
The disagreement ensued after an emergency meeting by the NEC unanimously passed a vote of no confidence hereby suspending the entire BoT.
In a communiqué issued at the end of its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja, the party officials declared that after a thorough review, the BoT has been deficient, ineffective and cannot perform its official functions as clearly stated in the constitution, hence the decision to suspend the entire BoT until further notice.
The meeting however, became confrontational when the party chairman while answering questions fielded by journalists claimed that paucity of funds led to the inability of the party to hold its national convention, a claim debunked by the BoT chairman with pieces of evidence that the party has enough funds, he also alleged that the Party chairman had diverted a minimum of N17 million naira into his accounts leaving the party poor.
On his suspension, Banna declared that he remains as the BoT chairman despite the vote of no confidence passed on him, adding that he could not be removed by Dantalle whom he brought to the party.
“I am not suspended because I am a stakeholder of this party and no one can suspend me, I brought the national chairman.
“My offence to him is that I always insist that he should carry his people along and there will be peace, he got money from Ogun State and he said there was no money for the party, where is the money going to, we have the record of party account and no money has ever been paid into it. He should resign if he can’t give provide credible leadership for the party.
