ASUU declares 1-month strike

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), has declared a one-month nationwide strike.

The strike was declared shortly after a press conference held by Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, the President of ASUU including the union’s National Executive Council (NEC), on Monday.

In a report Punch, the strike, which commences on Monday, February 14, 2022, will last for an initial period of four weeks.

The decision for the industrial action was made by the NEC after holding marathon meetings since Saturday at the University of Lagos (UNILAG), titled, ‘NEC for NEC.’

ASUU had sensitised and mobilised lecturers and students across all federal universities on the reason the union might likely go on strike.

The latest strike will be the second in barely after one year since previous which started in March 2020 and ended December, 2020.
