Cyber Security: NUJ Bauchi trains 25 members on digital safety

25 journalists in Bauchi State have been trained on Digital Security and Safety by the Bauchi State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in collaboration with JMT Digital Solutions.
The NUJ Chairman, Bauchi State Council, Comrade Umar Sa’idu, in his remarks, charged the beneficiaries to use the opportunity to achieve the purpose of organizing the training.
He explained that his leadership is committed to ensuring that his members are trained so as to update their knowledge and keep them abreast with the latest technological advancement in communication.
Also speaking at the event, Special Adviser to the Governor of Bauchi State on Media and Communications, Comrade Mukthar Gidado, who was represented by the Director, Press, Government House, Alhassan Sulaiman Dambam, described the training as a stepping stone that can lead to the provision of adequate security to the journalists while online.
He commended Bauchi NUJ for this initiative and appreciated JMT digital solutions for collaborating with the state council to update members with the present realities on Digital Security and Safety.
The North-East Zonal Manager of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Malam Rabiu Sani Ali, said the training was apt in view of the current cyber security threats facing the globe and urged the state council of the NUJ to continue to provide more of such opportunities for its members to enable them to carry out their assignments without fear of being hacked.
In his contribution, the Managing Director of the Bauchi State Television (BATV) Ibrahim Sani Umar said the training might not have come at a better time than now because criminals were using different soft and spyware to steal information from the internet users, particularly the journalists.
The facilitator, Mr Bilyamin Jambil said participants were acquainted with the knowledge of shielding themselves from any form of cyber attack as well as provided with tools to work with while using the internet.
