The former governor is standing trials bordering on allegations of misappropriation of public funds and diversion of SUBEB money amounting to the sum of 6.3 billion.
However, when the proceeding was ongoing, the second accused person, Mr Yusuf Pam who was sitting very close to the former governor alerted his counsel, Edward Pwajok, SAN, in an urgent manner, who immediately took permission from the presiding judge to attend to his client.
Pwajok, after rushing to meet with his client, Sen. Jang, who appeared to be in pain and was almost on the verge of collapsing, informed the judge that the former governor’s blood sugar level had risen above the normal level and he needed his aide to bring him a particular drink that is mixed with ginger which they assume he usually takes when such condition arises.
At that, the prosecutions counsel Rotimi Jacobs, SAN, immediately stood up and made an oral application for a stand down for some minutes to enable Jonah Jang to recover his strength.
The judge in sighting the plight of Jonah Jang immediately granted the application and he (Jang) was rushed outside the courtroom to receive proper attention.
The court reconvened shortly after a period of 30 minutes and the proceedings continued.
