The Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir, on Monday appointed Alhaji Nuhu Ahmed Wabi, one of the sons of the late Emir as the new Emir of Jama’are.

The appointment came several weeks after the death of his father, late Alhaji Ahmadu Muhammadu Wabi III.

While announcing the appointment, the Governor, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Ibrahim Muhammed Kashim said that the appointment of Alhaji Nuhu Ahmed Wabi followed “due and careful consideration of the names recommended by the kingmakers of Jama’are Emirate Council”.

He said that the new Emir has the best role model in his late father, asking him to copy the exemplary leadership style and qualities he lived by, just as he congratulated Alhaji Nuhu Ahmed Wabi on his appointment.

Nuhu Ahmed Wabi who was until his appointment, the Yarima (Crowned Prince) of Jama’are is the eldest son of the late monarch who reigned for more than 52 years and was the longest-serving traditional ruler in Northern Nigeria before his death.

The new Emir was also the district head of Jama’are before his recent appointment. This makes Wabi the 10th Emir among rulers of the Fulani Kingdom.

Presenting the appointment letter at the Emir’s Palace, Barr. Ibrahim Muhammed Kashim said the appointment was based on merit and the overall interest of the people.

He charged the new Emir to justify the confidence reposed in him.

Also speaking, the Commissioner for Local Governments and Chieftaincy Affairs, Abdurrazak Nuhu Zaki, who was part of the entourage, expressed confidence in the ability of the Emir to deliver quality leadership that would take the emirate to greater heights.

Responding, the new Emir, Alhaji Ahmad Muhammad Wabi, appreciated the Governor for considering him worthy among the seven candidates that applied for the position.

Wabi pledged to establish a harmonious working relationship with all the traditional institutions across the state.

He called on his subjects to extend the support and cooperation accorded to his late father to enable him to succeed.

Neptune Prime correspondent observed that the appointment was generally accepted by the people of the emirate as the government delegation was peacefully received by a mammoth crowd.
