I’m not bothered about negative criticism on social media – Kannywood actress

Story from Saleh INUWA, Kano

Popular Kannywood actress, director and producer, Rahama Sadau, has said that she is not bothered about being criticised negatively on social media because it is the price she has to pay as a celebrity.

There are several people that post their pictures half nude. In fact, recently, a multi-millionaire celebrity had her open sex video posted on social media, yet, she ignored it and continued with her life.

I went through several rough moments in my career, even if I post a video with a particular brand of clothes, as a commercial for textile companies or textile makers, people will say ooh, Rahama is at it again, she has just posted half-nude pictures online.

She told Neptune Prime in a telephone interview: “I virtually arrived where I am supposed to be in life. I have my higher Diploma from Kaduna Polytechnic. I went for my service which I did successfully, everybody saw me in my NYSC uniform. I am not regretting my life at all, because my parents, my sisters, and my brothers are very happy with what I am doing in life, you never read about any quarrel in my family about me or any of our family members.

“I was suspended or even given outright expulsion, but because the Kannywood and MOPPAN stakeholders knew that some of my problems are caused by those that are envying me, today I am producing my own film, Matar Aure, with most of our senior members featuring and nobody is stopping me. That is to tell you that I have committed no offence or breached no law that is guiding our operation.

“Since I joined Kannywood through Ali Nuhu, I was opportune not only to feature in dozens of films, I also produced several films successfully and nobody accused me of going outside our ethics. I was in India to feature in a film, I was in Hollywood for a musical project, I was in Ghana for a film, and every day my status is rising instead of going down.

On her saddest moment in Kannywood, Rahama who celebrated her 27th birthday recently noted that they are many. In fact, she is one celebrity that is always subjected to criticism. Recently, there was this Ladi Cima and Fati Slow-motion crisis, followed by a comment by Naziru Ahmad that most actresses were sexually abused before they were given roles in films. I read everything that was going on, but what annoyed me was my picture among Kannywood actresses that intends to sue Sarkin Waka, people should ignore that because I am not part and parcel of any group that is planning to go to court.

I am always available and my number is known to my colleagues. If they want me to partake in issues like this, they should call me and not put my picture in a group that will take legal action against my colleagues. Thank God the Ladi Cima interview has become a blessing for her and Fati Slow motion, out of nowhere, they got N3 million naira from Naziru Ahmad. I wish them all the best, but please people should leave me alone, let me concentrate on my projects.
