Jigawa gov’t pays N40 billion as benefits to retirees

The Jigawa State Government has paid over N39.4 billion as terminal benefits and monthly pensions to retirees from 2015 to February 2022.

The Executive Secretary of the State Local Government Contributory Pension Scheme Board, Alhaji Kamilu Aliyu Musa, disclosed this while receiving the executive members of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), headed by its National President, Comrade Ambali Akeem Olatunji, who was on a two-day official working visit to Jigawa state.

He explained that of the amount, over N14 billion was paid as terminal benefits to retiring state civil servants both in LGAs and retiring staff of Local Education Authorities.

Kamilu Aliyu further said that over N25.1billion was paid as monthly pension during the period under review.

According to him, 3,376 workers and 5,967 pensioners benefitted from the scheme while commending Governor Badaru for the financial and moral stride to the scheme at all times.

Earlier, the National President of NULGE expressed delight over the activities of the scheme and as well commended Governor Badaru for the prompt payment of monthly salary and pension to retiring Jigawa state civil servants.
